Client Data Engineer
S3 is a trading analytics and regulatory compliance software company that provides services to clients ranging from the biggest investment banks and stock exchanges to the industry’s newest rising-stars.
Job Overview
This is a client-facing development role responsible for improving the overall onboarding and client experience, both internally and externally. The position involves building and enhancing tools for the CX team, managing and improving the technical aspects of client onboarding, setting up database schemas, writing scripts for data manipulation, and identifying and solving problems with client data processing and reporting.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Work directly with clients to support data processing, onboarding, and reporting needs
- Create and manage client database schemas in Postgres and ClickHouse
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation for client onboarding workflows
- Build and improve internal tools for the CX team to enhance the client experience
- Create and customize client reports and data pipelines
- Perform data manipulation, transformation, and migration across database systems
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools and techniques to accelerate tool development
- Research and recommend alternatives when faced with challenging business or technical problems
- Work with other team members to address client reliability, functionality, and performance-related issues
- Participate in S3’s ongoing and future audit and compliance requirements for clients.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable in a client-facing role
- Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and tool development
- Strong shell scripting experience (bash, awk, perl)
- Experience with Ruby for application development
- Strong SQL experience with Postgres required; ClickHouse experience a plus
- Ability to design database schemas and perform complex data manipulation and migration
- Strong understanding of Linux system administration and command-line tools
- Familiarity with Windows and Mac OS X environments
- Experience with AWS services
- Experience developing tools using AI and AI-assisted development workflows is a significant plus
- Experience with client onboarding processes and CX tooling preferred.
